We’re proud to announce that our first confirmed speaker for Speed Festival 2025 is none other than Dr. Jo Brown — a globally respected performance physiotherapist, biomechanist, and movement specialist with over two decades of experience at the highest level of elite sport.
Jo’s track record spans 18 different sports and includes work with Olympic medallists, NBA stars, world champions, international footballers — and critically, top-tier Jamaican sprinters and hurdlers. Most notably, she works closely with Megan Tapper, Jamaica’s world-class 100 m hurdler. Tapper — Olympic medallist and national champion — has credited Jo’s integrated performance care for deepening her biomechanical awareness and accelerating recovery from minor injuries
She’s also played a pivotal role in the rise of Noah Lyles, the fastest man on the planet and Olympic gold medallist at Paris 2024, applying her integrated performance care model to support his preparation, resilience, and execution on the world stage.
A deep thinker and clinical expert, Jo completed her PhD on musculoskeletal asymmetry across the kinetic chain, with a clinical focus on hamstring rehabilitation and restoring athletic coordination post-injury. Her approach is rooted in kinesthetic retraining — rebuilding an athlete’s sensory and motor control systems to enhance the way force is felt, directed, and transferred through movement. This is especially crucial in high‑speed, high‑load environments, where small inefficiencies can lead to injury or performance breakdown.
At Speed Festival 2025, Dr. Brown will lead two essential sessions:
🔹 The First 10 Metres – Foundations of High‑Performance Acceleration
Discover how small details in posture, shin angles, limb sequencing, and ground contact define elite‑level acceleration. Jo will share insights from biomechanical profiling and neuromuscular diagnostics, revealing the hidden variables that often separate good from great.
🔹 The Foot–Pelvic Connection – Rewiring the Kinetic Chain
An often‑overlooked link in athletic performance, the relationship between the foot and pelvis governs load management, force transfer, and postural control. This hands‑on session will provide tools to assess and retrain this connection, helping athletes move better, safer, and faster.
Whether you're a coach, therapist, or performance practitioner, Jo’s sessions are designed to challenge conventional thinking and provide real‑world strategies you can apply immediately. Her philosophy is clear:
"Performance isn’t just about output — it’s about how well we move, how well we organise, coordinate, and transfer force when it matters most."
Stay tuned — more world‑class names are coming soon. But for now, we couldn’t imagine a better way to start.
Don’t miss your chance to learn from one of the top minds in sprint performance.
